Walks and hikes around Molières
Far from mass tourism, the hiking trails of Molières allow a privileged discovery of the Périgourdine countryside, during a short stroll or a long tour.
Whether you go on your own, as a couple, in a group or with your family, the region reveals its treasures to “Sunday walkers” and experienced hikers alike.
Short walks
There are several possibilities to enjoy the landscape and countryside of Molières without having to walk long distances.
"Boucle du Patrimoine"
Installed since 2018, a series of informative panels invite you to discover the history and heritage of our village. The “Heritage Loop” (“Boucle du Patrimoine”) starts from the car park at the entrance to the village or from the central square and takes you through our small streets and carreyrous on a 1.2 km circuit. Allow at least 30 minutes, easy level.
"Boucle de la Petite Veyière"
For those who want to go a little further, the “Boucle de la Petite Veyière” (“Petite Veyière Loop”) allows you to discover the nature around Molières and to enjoy beautiful views of the Church and the Castle. This loop of almost 2 km will take you about 40 minutes and has an altitude difference of +/-75m. Level: fairly easy.
Walk with a donkey
The farm “Au pas de l’âne”, located 500m from the village square, offers you the opportunity to discover the village of Molières with a pack donkey. A loop of +/- 3 km will allow you to pass first by some beautiful places of our countryside and will finish by the centre of the Village. Needless to say, children will be delighted! *
* At the farm “Au pas de l’âne“, you can also go for a half day or a whole day walk. Different tours have been prepared for you.
"À la carte"
On reservation, we can offer you small accompanied “discovery tours”. Different themes can be discussed on request, such as “The bastides”, “History and heritage”, “Water is life”, “Nuts and chestnuts”, etc.

Permanent trail circuits in Molières
The “Conseil Départemental de la Dordogne” has created in 2022, in collaboration with the “Communauté de Communes Bastides Dordogne Périgord“, a series of permanent trail circuits.
The "Chemin d'Amadour" - GR®81
The “Chemin d’Amadour” is a 500km trek that runs from the Atlantic Ocean to the “Causses de Quercy”. The route is based on the legend of Amadour (Zacchaeus).
Amadour and his wife were on the run in the 1st century AD due to the persecution of Christians in Palestine. They landed on the Médoc coast. After his wife’s death, Amadour set out to evangelise the south-west of France. He crossed the Dordogne valley and settled as a hermit in Quercy, at the place that would later be called Rocamadour.
This route would become one of the most important pilgrimages in Christianity.
On the roads to Santiago de Compostela
A 180 km long ancient pilgrimage route runs from Bergerac to Rocamadour and largely follows the “Chemin d’Amadour”. This magnificent signposted route leads through the vineyards and hills of Bergerac, before skirting the superb valley of the Dordogne river and its cliffs, to finally arrive in the valley of the Ouysse river and the arid causses of the Lot.
It is a variant of the Compostela Routes inspired by a route that linked the ancillary pilgrimages and which seems to have been used by the Jacquets since the second half of the 12th century. It was part of the transversal axis that connected Rocamadour, a high place of pilgrimage with the Black Virgin, to Cadouin, whose Cistercian abbey housed a shroud that would have belonged to Christ, before catching up with the road to Vézelay *.
Step number 4 of this route starts from Beaumont, passes through Saint-Avit-Sénieur, leads you to Molières (if you choose the variant) and finally reaches Cadouin.
Some of our friends have tried the experience of a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. One of them took the road to Vézelay in 2008.
* The Vezelay Route: One of the main Jacobean routes used by several hundreds of pilgrims every year. This route crosses northern Europe via Poland, Germany and Luxembourg before arriving in France and reaching Vezelay, one of the major departure points identified for the French routes. The route enters the Dordogne via La Coquille and crosses Périgueux, the capital of the Dordogne, before reaching Sainte Foy la Grande and the Gironde.
